Defining domestic water consumption based on personal water use activities

Abstract As the world increasingly faces water shortages, it is critical to develop realistic estimates of consumption based on water-use activities rather than top-down imposed limits. This study quantifies absolute basic (ABC) an individual, irrespective location or source, with a focus personal measured household consumption. A theoretical model stochastically describe 21 was developed, corresponding lifestyle levels upon Maslow's hierarchy physiological needs. From this model, expected value ABC 92 L/capita/day (LPCD) and includes restrictions several everyday thus would be better as minimum target during stringent restrictions. more for non-wasteful, indoor-only use determined 175 LPCD. The results serve useful benchmark inform policy choices efforts conserve without affecting health wellbeing.
